I have the same issue. Here is how I resolved it. The parts were less than $20 on Amazon. The quick summary is I purchased a switch and all the connections to install a switch on the outside of my case. Flipping the switch works the same as unplugging the cable from the motherboard. If you'd like a list of the actual parts I purchased, let me know. I will post them here.
I purchased a female 9pin USB to USB 2.0 male. I connected that to the female end of a male/female USB on/off switch. Then I connected that to a female USB 2.0 to male 9pin USB. And finally I connected that to the female 9pin to 4 pin cable that came with the 8.8 LCD screen.
Once all that was completed. I mounted the on/off switch to the outside of my case. Then toggle it anytime I have this issue.
Problem solved. 😃
